Michael Jackson's 53rd Birthday

1. Today will be cooler temperatures with high humidity.  The high will hit 79 degrees with 79% humidity.
2. On this day in 1958, Michael Jackson was born. He would have been 53 years old.
3. There will be an ongoing BOOK SALE this week at various Fairfax County Libraries.

Right in our own backyard is Fort Ward, the best preserved (about 90 percent of the fort's earthwork walls are original) of the system of Union forts and batteries built to protect Washington, DC during the American Civil War, 1861-1865.  Visitors will leave with a true sense of what it would have been like to live in the fort during the time of our Civil War. Museum Hours: April-October: Tues.-Sat. 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sun. Noon to 5 p.m.   Fort Ward park includes something for everyonew with picnic spots, playgrounds and a dog exercise area. 
5. Hurricane Irene’s massive size and slow progress up the coastline left a broad swath of damage in her path. Many Virginians are dealing with blackouts that Governor McDonnell called the second largest ever and warned could last as long as a week.
