Postal Service Anticipating Normal Operations Wednesday

USPS will deliver mail, but is expecting some delays and is asking people to clear the way to mailboxes.

With the wind picking up speed and the snow coming down faster by the minute in Kingstowne, the U.S. Postal Service said Wednesday morning that it's still expecting to make its deliveries through the storm. According to a news release, USPS is asking all customers to clear snow from their mailboxes and walkways as much as possible.

This winter storm is the first significant snowfall of the winter season in the Northern Virginia area and transportation problems are expected. With this in mind, USPS said they are expecting some delays in delivering the mail.

USPS is also asking residents to clear overhangs and steps to avoid injury. According to USPS, because postal carriers have suffered injuries from slips and falls in the past years, they have been instructed to hold mail to addresses where ice and snow are not cleared.
