Sinkhole Update: VDOT To Repair Road Temporarily for Weekend

Drivers will need to be cautious driving over repair, McKay says

The sinkhole , cutting off access to parts of a neighborhood, will be temporarily repaired for the weekend, according to an email Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay (D) sent to constituents.

The repair, made by the Virginia Department of Transportation, will mean that drivers can ride in both directions on Valley View. In his email, McKay cautioned drivers to be careful while driving over it.

McKay added that he does not have a schedule yet for the permanent repairs, but writes that VDOT has told him the repair has "priority" and "emergency" status.

After the sinkhole closed Valley View, which is the only road to parts of the neighborhood, residents were forced to use Tilbury Road, a disused dirt-and-gravel street, to access their homes.
