VDOT Closing 495 South Lanes Overnight at Springfield Interchange

The lanes will be closed overnight Monday through Wednesday.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) released the following statement:

VDOT will close all lanes of I-495 south, Outer Loop, at the Springfield Interchange each night starting Monday, June 25 through Wednesday, June 27.

The closures will begin at 9:30 p.m. progressing to a full road closure by 11 p.m., for paving. Crews will also close Exit 57B, I-395 north with traffic directed to use the below detour. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the next morning.

I-495 south and Exit 57B, I-395 north traffic will be detoured to Exit 57A, I-95 south to Exit 166B, Fairfax County Parkway (Route 286/Old Route 7100) south, follow signage back to I-95 north/I-495 east, Outer Loop and I-395 north. 

Should inclement weather cancel this work it will be rescheduled.  

This work is part of the 495 Express Lanes Project. The project is on schedule to be completed in late 2012.
