Venus Williams Drops Out of U.S. Open

President Obama adjusts his calendar for Congress, Bee Gees' Barry Gibb turns 65?

  3. In an unprecedented move, Speaker of the House Boehner rejected President Obama’s proposed Wednesday night date to address Congress on the subject of the US economy and job creation, requesting the President shift the date to Thursday night. The Sept. 7 date conflicts with a Republican presidential debate scheduled that same night. White House officials explained the President chose Wednesday simply because it was the next joint session of Congress on the books. It was not intended as an effort to impede Republican debate plans. As requested, the President has shifted his calendar offering in a letter from the White House stating that he “welcomes the opportunity to address a join session of Congress on Thursday, Sept. 8.”
  4. Dressed and seemingly ready to play her second round match against Sabine Lisicki, Venus Williams suddenly pulled out of the U.S. Open yesterday. In a statement she explained she suffers from Sjogren’s syndrome, an autoimmune disease that causes fatigue and joint pain.
  5. Barry Gibb of the Bee rGees celebrates his 65th birthday today, and that’s no “Tragedy”.
