Weekend Beltway Ramp Closures

Cool candy experiments, US delivers tough words to Pakistan, Edison High School Homecoming schedule.

Here are five things we thought our readers would be interested to know today. If you have an event you'd like for us to feature, please submit it in the comments section below and check back tomorrow to see if your event made the list.

  1. Today and through the weekend we can expect partly cloudy skies with highs in the low 60s and only a 10 percent chance of rain. Enjoy!
  2. Secretary of State Clinton delivered a tough line to Pakistan: clean up the terrorist networks that have safe harbor in your country or the United States will act.
  3. Edison High School's Homecoming is this weekend. Tonight is the float parade, tailgating and a football game. Saturday night is the Homecoming Dance. The 1986 State Champion Edison Eagles will also have a reunion. Get all the details here, and check out a story on   
  4. On this day in 1959 the Guggenheim Museum, home to one of the world’s top contemporary art collections, opened in New York City.
  5. Beginning at 9 p.m. today Exit 64, I-66 west ramp to I-495 south/Capital Beltway will be closed until 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, for ramp reconstruction. 
Detour Route: Traffic will be directed to continue west on I-66 to Exit 62, Nutley Street and follow signs to I-66 east, back to I-495 south.
