Yom Kippur Begins at Sundown

Army Ten Miler, prostate screening update, remembering Steve Jobs.

  1. Today has been another fabulous fall day. We’ll have sunshine all day and a high reaching 73 degrees. The weekend will be much the same, although Sunday will be noticeably warmer with a high close to 80 degrees.
  2. Traffic Update: Sunday, Oct. 9 is the annual Army Ten Mile Run. It starts and ends at the Pentagon and will affect motor traffic in the area.  Expect Metro lines to be very full Sunday morning as well.
  3. Yom Kippur, meaning “Day of Atonement” begins at sundown today, Oct. 7.
  4. On this day in 2003, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected California's governor.
  5. U.S. Task Force announces healthy men should not receive a P.S.A. blood test to screen for prostate cancer. The task force’s recommendations are followed by most medical groups.
