Fairfax County residents voted for a new sheriff Tuesday, making Stacey Kincaid the first female sheriff of the county.

Kincaid, 48, and a 26-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, said her priorities focus on community outreach, especially in neighborhoods of diverse cultural backgrounds, in order to foster more cooperation and therefore safety for all residents.

The elections puts to an end a bitterly fought race, with accusations flying about pilfered campaign signs, unethical mail-outs, attacks on Kincaid about the 2nd amendment and more.

The unofficial results from the State Board of Elections Web site, as of 10:10 p.m., with
239 of 239 precincts reporting:

  • Bryan "B.A." Wolfe: 98,686; 39.24%
  • Stacey Kincaide: 135,142; 53.74%
  • Christopher DeCarlo: 7,463/2.97%
  • Robert Rivera: 8,704/3.46%

A captain in the county’s sheriff’s office, Kincaid is the first female sheriff of the county. She ran against three contenders:

Bryan “BA” WolfeChris DeCarlo (who got attention with this rap video out titled “Democracy Rides Again”) and Robert Rivera. DeCarlo is a propane salesman. Rivera is a security analyst.

The race increasingly centered on Kincaid versus Wolfe with the other two candidates often no-shows at local forums.
