CAC to Collect Items for Wounded Warriors

The Franconia Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) will be helping to collect various items to donate to Wounded Warriors Project, according to a recent news release from the Franconia District Police Station. The donations will be made through Arms Outstretched Ministries, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization run by Fairfax County Police Officer Michelle Humphries.

The CAC will collect items from July 22 to Aug. 9. Items can be dropped off in the main lobby of the Franconia District Police Station located at 6121 Franconia Rd.

Each month, Humphries and other members of her organization travel to Bethesda Naval Hospital to visit wounded warriors. They provide lunch from Dixie Bones Barbeque and pass out needed items to warriors. When funds are available, the organization also helps with paying for plane tickets, rental cars and hotel rooms for visiting family members.

The following items are being accepted for donation:

  • shampoo
  • conditioner
  • soap
  • washcloth
  • toothpaste
  • toothbrush
  • mouthwash
  • breath spray or mints
  • lotion
  • fingernail and toe nail clippers
