CAC's 'Doughraiser' at UNO Chicago Bar & Grill Extended Through October

Have a meal at UNO's and help support Franconia District Station officers at the same time.

The Citizen's Advisory Committee (CAC) for the Franconia District Station has organized a "doughraiser" in September sponsored by UNO Chicago Bar & Grill in Kingstowne that was expected to run from Sept. 30 to Oct. 13. The event has been extended until the end of October, according to CAC president Sue Hotto.

To participate in the event, customers have to present a copy of a donation ticket (see above) to their servers, and the CAC will receive 15 percent if total sales are less than $1,000. The group will receive 20 percent if sales are more than $1,000. During Wednesday's CAC meeting Hotto said they are a few hundred dollars from reaching $1,000.

There is no limit on the amount of times you can participate and the donation tickets apply to dining in or take out orders for lunch and dinner. However, the donation tickets do not apply to the purchase of gift cards.

The CAC will use the proceeds to support officers at the Fraconia District Station. The money will go to meals for officers who work during the holidays and to celebrate the CAC "Officer of the Quarter" by giving them a gift card.

UNO is located at 5935 Kingstowne Center in the Kingstowne Town Center.

In November, the CAC will also assist the Franconia District Station in a food drive. MPO Jim Reid said the food drive will take place during the three weekends before Thanksgiving. With the cooperation of local businesses and grocery stores, auxiliary officers along with CAC members will collect food outside of those businesses to donate to local nonprofit organizations.

Reid said a schedule and sign up sheet for this year's food drive will soon be available on the station's website.
