Donate Used Bicycles to Bikes for the World

Donations will help the organization in making used bikes available for those in developing countries.

The Kingstowne/NOVA Volunteer Group will be collecting used bikes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Thomas Center to donate to Bikes for the World. The organization make an effort to make used bicycles and parts affordable and available to lower income people and select institutions in developing countries.

A used bicycle and suggested $10 donation will help the organization in its mission to assist those in developing countries with needed transport. Collections at Thomas Center will take place rain or shine. Bikes for the World also accepts operating portable sewing machines.

According to the organization, acceptable donations include serviceable and complete (or nearly-complete) bicycles for children and adults, useable bike spare parts and components, and useable bicycle accessories. Visit Bikes for the World for more information on acceptable donations.

So far the organization has collected more 82,000 bikes for the cause. If you've donated previously, find out where your used bike is located.
