The Navy Yard shootings of Sept. 16 will be remembered by many people around the region, but Scott Williams is reminded of it with every second of his recovery.
Williams is the Metropolitan Police Department officer who was shot while responding to the chaos.
According to his GoFundMe page, created by his friends and coworkers, Williams was one of the first police officers on the scene. While trying to stop Aaron Alexis who killed 12 people, Williams was shot several times.
He is now recovering from shots in both legs that cracked one and shattered the other, the campaign says.
"Although Scott has made great strides since being shot, the recovery process will take time and there are many unforeseen expenses on the horizon," the campaign says.
The campaign is more than halfway to its goal of $5,000. You can donate here.
