The event is scheduled for Nov. 2.

It's that time again. The Kingstowne Striders recently opened registration for the 4th Annual Jack T. Farrar Jr. "Fill the Shoes" 5K race. The race is scheduled for 8 a.m. Nov. 2 at Hayfield Park, located at 7607 Hayfield Rd.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Runners, walkers and families are welcome to participate in this year's event.

The 5K is timed and awards will be given at the end. The cost to participate is $30. all participants will receive a long-sleeve race t-shirt, a one-of-a-kind race premium (to be determined), a virtual race bag full of goodies from sponsors and a post-race party with food and plenty of raffle prizes.

Sponsors for this year's event include Grounded Coffee Shop, Mattress Discounters, Metro Run & Walk, CSI2, Giant, Noodles & Company, Bella Donna Skin & Body Spa, Bonefish Grill, The Hayfield Animal Hospital, FastTrack Physical Therapy & Sports Performance and Genghis Grill.

Last year, the Jack T. Farrar Jr. "Fill the Shoes" 5K attracted more than 250 registrants to Hayfield Park. The race has also raised more than $5,000 in each of its first two years.

If you're not interested in running or walking this year, the Kingstowne Striders also offer the opportunity to donate and/or volunteer for this year's event.
