For over 50 years, the Pumpkin Tunnel at Nalls Produce has brought in families from all over the DC area. It is one of the few pumpkin attractions that is free, making it a wonderful activity for the whole family. Every year, we start construction in mid-September and immediately see the excitement in our customer’s faces when they see that it is that time of year again. This fort of tubes and crawl spaces, covered in straw and pumpkins never fails to please children and parents alike. Many parents who bring their kids to the patch often reminisce about how their parents brought them when they were children and how happy they are to share the experience with their own children.
The Fall is the busiest time of year for us. We have the Pumpkin Tunnel open and offer all kinds of treats like local apples, fresh apple cider, caramel apples, locally made popcorn and more. Plus, our Garden Center is fully stocked with wonderful hardy plants like mums, asters and pansies. Kids also love seeing the chickens running around the property and of course no visit is complete without stopping to say "hi" to Penny, our resident teacup pig!
Owner Cary Nalls specializes in carving unique pumpkins. You can catch him on weekends working on them and putting the finishing touches of fresh fruits and vegetables on them. We also offer all kinds of local fall produce in our CSA program, which runs year-round. You can even cook through the seasons with us in Nalls' Kitchen, our very own recipe blog dedicated to our CSA program!
Then, as soon as pumpkin season is over, Nalls is transformed into a Christmas tree field. Customers will spend hours finding just the perfect tree for their holiday photo. We source most of our trees from the East Coast, and we have a whole array of varieties, sizes and prices to fit everyone's needs. Customers will often also pick up one of our beautiful, fresh, handmade evergreen wreaths that we make here on-site. Along with roping and centerpieces, we have everything needed for celebrating the holiday season.
