Alexandria Man Charged with Assault on a Police Officer After Police-Involved Shooting

The Fairfax County Police Department is charging Maxwell Scott Eisenman, 37, with assault on a police officer after the police-involved shooting that took place the afternoon of April 9 on Thurlton Drive in Kingstowne.

Eisenman, an Alexandria-area resident, remains hospitalized in stable condition from a gunshot would he received durig the altercation, according to a recent FCPD news release. Eisenman was issued a warrant April 30 and was remanded to the Fairfax County Sheriff's Office.

At the time of the incident, police responded to a report of possible suicide in the 6600 block of Thurlton Drive. After an altercation, officers shot Eisenman — prompting one officer to perform CPR.

According to the news release, the investigation, which was taken over by the Internal Affairs Bureau shortly after the incident, revealed that Eisenman used what was later identified as a replica of a semi-automatic handgun in a threatening manner toward officers.

The officers involved in the shooting — PFC Shannon Sams, PFC Robert Marshall and PFC Eric Runkles — were placed on routine administrative leave after the incident.

Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Raymond F. Morrogh has informed Lieutenant Colonel Edwin C. Roessler Jr., acting Chief of the Fairfax County Police Department, that no basis for criminal liability exists on the part of the three involved officers, according to the news release.

The three officers will return to full patrol duties and responsibilities at the Franconia District Police Station.
