Alexandria Man Cited for Loaded Weapon in Dulles Carry-On

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police removed the weapon and found it was loaded with nine rounds of ammunition.

A Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officer spotted a loaded weapon in the carry-on bag of an Alexandria man at the security checkpoint in Dulles International Airport Monday.

The man, who had put his carry-on through the X-ray machine, was cited for attempting to bring a loaded gun onto an airplane, WTOP reported.

TSA contacted the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police and they removed the 9mm Beretta and found the gun was loaded with nine rounds of ammunition.

The man — who was preparing to fly to Paris — was cited on a local weapons charge. The incident on Monday did not affect airport operations.
