Car Collides with Utility Pole, Shuts Down Franconia Road

An overnight collision stopped traffic in both directions on Franconia Road this morning

Traffic on Franconia Road shut down in both directions Tuesday morning after a car collided with a utility pole. 

The car, which was traveling eastbound on Franconia Road, collided with a pole near the intersection of Guilford Drive around 2 a.m., said Officer Eduardo Azcarate, a spokesman for the of the Fairfax County Police Department. Police received a call about the crash at 2:11 a.m., he said. 

The passenger was ejected from the vehicle, he said. Both the passenger and the driver were transported to INOVA Fairfax hospital.

Officer Azcarate said the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
