Fall Fire Season Starts This Week

Dead leaves increase the risk of fires.

The arrival of fall doesn't just mean Halloween and more football. It also means an increased risk for fire.

Fall fire season in Virginia begins this Saturday, as reported by the Associated Press, and lasts until November 30. During this time, dead leaves make it easier for small fires to grow into larger ones.

Kingstowne and Franconia have already experienced some brush fires this year. In February,  near Twain Middle School. A brush fire in northern Franconia in April  before being extinguished.
