Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation Still Ongoing

John Greer, 46, of Springfield died after police responded to a domestic dispute call on Aug. 29.

FCPD is still investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in the 7900 block of Pebble Brook Court in the Springfield area back in August. The incident resulted in the death of John Greer, 46, of Springfield.

PIO Lucy Caldwell said FCPD still has not released the officer's name as the investigation is ongoing. After the incident, FCPD placed the patrol officer on a routine administrative leave.

Around 2:40 p.m. on Aug. 29, FCPD officers responded to a domestic dispute call where the complainant advised a man was armed with a firearm. Police encountered Greer on the outside of the residence when they arrived. At some point during negotiations, a patrol officer fired a shot that struck Greer, who then barricaded himself inside the home.

Tactical officers went inside the residence to provide aid for Greer and found him deceased.
