FCPD Conducts Motor Carrier Safety Check at Springfield Mall

Police officers inspected trucks and other commercial vehicles Tuesday.

Members of the Fairfax County Police Department conducted a random motor carrier safety check Tuesday at the Springfield mall. In partnership with the Virginia State Police and the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office, FCPD officers inspected trucks and other commercial vehicles for mechanical safety, licensures for commercial drivers, among other things, PIO Lucy Caldwell said.

Officers inspects trucks and commercial vehicles daily, but FCPD also arranges large-scale random safety checks in order to check on the safety of commercial motor carriers traveling the roadways of Fairfax County.

Caldwell said commercial drivers are held to a higher and different level of standards and must be in compliance with all federal rules, including getting the proper sleep and having zero drug and alcohol impairment.
