FCPD: Red Truck In Bush Hill Unrelated To Other Suspicious Reports

Truck reportedly approached children in the Bush Hill area on Feb. 4, 2012.

A sighting of a red truck in the Bush Hill area Saturday is unrelated to incidents in December 2011 and January 2012, Fairfax County Police say.

According to an email blast from the Fairfax County Public Schools Keep In Touch system, on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, an individual in a red truck allegedly approached a child in the Bush Hill neighborhood. The email went home to parents as a safety precaution after a number of reports of a man in near Clermont Elementary School in the last couple of months.

Officer Brooke Wright, information officer at Franconia District Station, said that the description of the person from Saturday’s incident did not match that of the man in reports from .

“We don’t believe that the encounter that happened Saturday was at all related to any other events,” she said. “There wasn’t any criminal activity and we don’t have any belief that there was any criminal intent at this point.”

Detectives will continue looking into all reports.
