FCPD to Have Additional Patrol for St. Patrick's Day Weekend

A sobriety checkpoint is scheduled for the West Springfield Police District.

In preparation for residents celebrating St. Patrick's Day, Fairfax County Police plan to include additional patrol units throughout the weekend for safety purposes, said PIO Lucy Caldwell.

As a precaution, FCPD also has a sobriety checkpoint scheduled in the West Springfield Police District. Caldwell said FCPD is urging motorists to designate a non-drinking driver if they plan to consume alcoholic beverages this weekend.

Motorists are asked to call 9-1-1 if they witness an impaired driver on the roads and provide dispatch with an exact location and the direction of travel to better assist FCPD.

St. Patrick's Day is Sunday and many Kingstowne restaurants and bars have planned food and drink specials throughout the weekend.
