Fire Breaks Out at Springfield Office Complex

No injuries reported

Firefighters responded to a fire Saturday night at a Springfield office complex. Although the office where the fire started was damaged, no injuries were reported.

According to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department Battalion Chief Brian Rooney, firefighters responded to the fire at 7009 Backlick Court around 6:04 p.m. The fire began in one of several attached office buildings. A sign outside the address listed it as Professional Tax Accountants, Inc.

Because of the potential for the fire to spread to other attached offices, several other fire engines were called out, Rooney said. Eventually, around 70 firefighters were called to the scene. The fire failed to spread to other buildings, in part because of a cinderblock wall between the accountant office and the adjacent office.
