Thursday: Serial Groper Incidents the Topic of Public Meeting with Police

A Thursday meeting with Fairfax County Police Department Franconia District Commander is open to all concerned citizens.

Captain Jim Baumstark, commander for the Franconia District Police Station will have a community meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Crestwood Elementary School, located at 6010 Hanover Ave. in Springfield to discuss the series of assaults that have taken place in the Springfield area from Sept. 7 up until the last reported incident March 1.

All concerned citizens are welcome at the meeting to ask Baumstark questions about the assaults, and a Spanish interpreter will be available.

The Springfield incidents started in early September. The suspect has approached women from behind and groped them before fleeing the scene. The most recent incidents were reported between Feb. 26 and March 1. According to FCPD, a total of 21 related incidents have been reported.
