Franconia District Station to Host AARP Driver Safety Course

Register for the course scheduled for April 29-30.

The Franconia District Police will host AARP's Driver Safety Course from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with an hour lunch on April 29-30 in the Helen Wilson Community Room located at the Lee District Government Center and Franconia District Police Station.

According to AARP, it's helpful for drivers age 50 and older to brush up on their driving skills due to the changes in traffic rules and driving conditions. Participants can also get discounts on car insurance after taking the class.

By taking a driver safety course, participants will learn the current rules of the road in the state of Virginia, defensive driving techniques and how to operate their vehicles more safely in today's increasingly challenging driving environment. The class will also cover how to manage and accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time.
