Groundhog Shuts Down Rose Hill Elementary Playground

Authorities kept children inside after large, 'abnormal acting' groundhog spotted, Washington Post reports.

A large "abnormal acting" groundhog shut down the playground last week at Rose Hill Elementary School, according to a report in The Washington Post.

The incident last Friday prompted a call to police and children were kept inside, the newspaper reported.

It's likely no one was taking any chances after other recent reports of suspicious behavior by rabid animals, including a rabid beaver that attacked an 83-year-old swimmer at Lake Barcroft recently, as well as a beaver that chased a group of children on a dock at Hidden Pond Nature Center in West Springfield.
