Every week, the Franconia Police District releases a report on the crimes committed in the area. Here are the reported incidents from April 6 to April 13.
Robbery
A man robbed an employee, a 50-year-old man, working at the Checks Cashed store at 6332 Springfield Plaza around 11:53 a.m. on Friday, April 8. The suspect displayed a gun and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was described as black and about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build and wearing a blue hoodie, ball cap and black pants. The victim did not require medical attention.

Sexual Assault
A woman was sexually assaulted on Tuesday, April 12 around 12:30 p.m. The victim, a 62-year-old woman, was outside of a home in the area of Waterlily Court and Valley View Drive when a man grabbed her from behind.

Malicious Wounding
Police are investigating a malicious wounding that occurred in a park in the 7400 block of Floyd Avenue just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13. An investigation determined that a group of acquaintances were in the park when a confrontation erupted between two of them, a 21-year-old man and 32-year-old man. The older man produced a gun, shot the victim in the lower body and fled. Police have obtained a malicious wounding warrant for the suspect.
