License Plate Scanner Leads to Stolen Car, Arrests

Driver is resident of Winchester, VA

Two people were arrested Monday in Franconia after a license plate scan allegedly linked them to a stolen car.

A Fairfax County Police Department officer was driving near Franconia Road and Rose Hill Drive when his car's license plate reader scanned a stolen car, a 2008 Saturn Vue stolen from Winchester, Virginia.

The car's driver fled into the City of Alexandria, and was later seen on South Van Dorn Street, from where it headed to Farrington Avenue. Police arrested both the car's driver and passenger there.

The car's driver, Bryon Keith Hughes, a 39-year-old resident of Winchester, has been charged with grnad larceny, driving while revoked, and possession with intent to distribute narcotics. The vehicle's passenger, jessica Kaye Conner, a 25-year-old resident of Stephens City, has been charged with possession of narcotics.

Both Conner and Hughes were transported to Fairfax County's Adult Detention Center after their arrest.
