Man Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter for Fatal Car Accident

Andrew Steenbuck, of Alexandria recently pleaded guilty to manslaughter after being involved in a fatal car crash earlier this year.

According to PIO Lucy Caldwell with the Fairfax County Police Department, Steenbuck was traveling north on Kingstowne Boulevard in a 2011 Ford Mustang. A driver in a 1994 Camry was traveling south on Kingstowne Boulevard preparing to make a left turn onto Kingstowne Village Parkway. According to police reports, Steenbuck didn't slow down and the Mustang collided into the other vehicle.

Diana Vera, a passenger in the Camry at the time of the accident, died as a result of the collision. Caldwell said detectives on the case determined that alcohol was not a factor in the accident. However, Steenbuck was speeding at the time. According to court records, Steenbuck has been cited for speeding in the past. He was fined for going 86 miles per hour in a 50mph zone in March 2012.

Steenbuck faces ten years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
