Medical Examiner: Gymboree Teacher's Death Caused by 'Blunt Trauma' from Car Accident

Medical examiner can't release information on whether Casey Noriega suffered any sort of seizure before her car hit a pole

Local Gymboree teacher Casey Noriega died of "blunt chest and abdomen trauma" Dec. 10 when the car she was driving struck a pole at Beulah Street and Windsor Avenue in Kingstowne, and the manner was ruled an accident, the Virginia Medical Examiner's Office said Wednesday.

It is still uncertain whether the 29-year-old mother who left behind a son suffered any sort of  prior to the  that took her life because the medical examiner's office cannot release that information, according to Nancy Bull, district administrator, Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Northern District.

The Code of Virginia classifies any information regarding a medical examiner case as confidential and allows the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to release only the cause and manner of death after the medical examiner’s office has completed its investigation of the case.

A memorial service was held in Falls Church on Tuesday, according to a memorial Website set up by family and friends.
