National Night Out Tonight in Kingstowne and Franconia

Neighbors take a stand against crime and violence in their communities

Tuesday evening, hundreds of Kingstowne and Franconia residents will be locking their doors, turning on their porch lights, and spending some quality time outside with their neighbors.

It would be a typical evening in most of our neighborhoods if August 2 were not the 28th annual National Night Out.

National Night Out, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, is an organized evening where community and civic organizations, local police departments, and residents take to the streets in a stand against violence and crime. Many groups order pizza or barbecue and discuss local issues, particularly pertaining to crime and crime prevention in their communities.
