One Person Killed in Kingstowne Crash

One person was killed in a crash on Kingstowne Boulevard Sunday afternoon.

The accident, which occurred at the intersection of Kingstowne Boulevard and Kingstowne Village Parkway, happened around 1:15 p.m. A blue car, heading northeast on Kingstowne Boulevard, collided with a silver car. The silver car crashed into a traffic light box. 

A passenger in the silver car died during the crash, while the car's driver was taken by helicopter to Inova Fairfax Hospital. The blue car's driver was also taken to the hospital.

According to Jeff Frazee, who lives near the accident site and saw the crash's immediate aftermath, the driver of the blue car did not appear to be injured.

The Fairfax County Police Department's Crash Reconstructon Unit responded to the scene to investigate the causes of the collision.

Police closed the intersection, as well as Manchester Boulevard's northeast side up to Manchester Lakes Drive. Because one of the cars struck a traffic light, according to FCPD's Captain Shawn Bennett, the damage to the light system had to be repaired.
