Passenger in Franconia Road Crash Dies Over Weekend

Adrian Cardozo, 21, was a Rose Hill resident

The passenger injured in an early-morning crash last week died over the weekend, a police spokesperson said today.

Adrian Cardozo, 21, was a resident of Elmwood Drive in Rose Hill. On February 15, around 2:00 a.m., he was the sole passenger in a car allegedly driven eastbound on Franconia Road by Kingstowne resident .

The car  into a utility pole near the intersection of Guildford Drive and Franconia Road, near the post office. While Shuttleworth only suffered minor injuries, Cardozo was ejected from the car and suffered serious injuries. Both were transported to Inova Fairfax hospital.

Police attributed the crash to speed and alcohol.

Police spokesperson Lucy Caldwell did not have more exact information on the date and time Cardozo died, but said it happened sometime during the weekend.

Shuttleworth has already been  with driving while intoxicated. Caldwell said additional charges against him may be pending, based on Cardozo's death.
