Police Blotter: Bomb Threat, Springfield Plaza Robbery

Koi fish stolen in Island Creek

Every week, the Franconia Police District releases an incidents blotter of the crimes around the area. Here's the blotter from April 3 to April 9, with some crimes highlighted at the top.

NOTABLE

Robbery: A person with carrying a bag of checks and money at Springfield Plaza was approached by a suspect carrying what seemed to be a semiautomatic pistol. The person carrying the gun stole the bag of checks and money. The robbery occurred on April 8.

Stolen Koi Fish: 26 koi fish were stolen from a home in Kingstowne at a home in the 6700 block of Morning Ride Cir, on April 4.

Bomb Threat: On April 6, a bomb threat was made over a walkie-talkie at a business in the 5800 block of Kingstowne Boulevard.

Kingstowne

Destruction of Private Property, 6400 Block of SILVER RIDGE CIR, 4/3/11. An individual reported that a subject(s) had thrown a rock through his living room window.

Larceny, 6000 Block of WESCOTT HILLS WAY, 4/3/11. An individual returned to his vehicle to find that the rear, right window had been smashed, his alarm system had been disabled, his vehicle had been immobilized, and four floor mats were missing.

Auto Theft, 6500 Block of GRANGE LN, 4/4/11. An individual discovered that his vehicle was missing.

Larceny, 6700 Block of MORNING RIDE CIR, 4/4/11. An individual reported that his 26 koi fish were stolen from his backyard pond.

Larceny, 6500 Block of GRANGE LN, 4/4/11. An individual returned to his vehicle to find all four tires and rims stolen; back end of the vehicle was left on cinder blocks.

Burglary, 7000 Block of MANCHESTER BLVD, 4/5/11. An individual reported that the main door to his business had been unlocked and televisions had been stolen.

Destruction of Private Property, 7500 Block of MANIGOLD CT, 4/5/11. An individual returned to his vehicle to find that it had been keyed on the hood. His roommate and several neighbors had also received scratches on their vehicles over the past several weeks.

Larceny, 6400 Block of SOUTH VAN DORN ST, 4/5/11. An individual’s credit card and cash was stolen from his wallet, which was left in an unlocked changing station.

Larceny, 5900 Block of KINGSTOWNE TOWNE CTR, 4/5/11. Two individuals attempted to exit a grocery store without paying for alcohol.

Destruction of Private Property, CURTIER DR / MANCHESTER LAKES DR, 4/6/11. An individual returned to vehicle to find a large dent in rear passenger side fender.

Disorderly Conduct, 5100 Block of FRANCONIA RD, 4/6/11. A store manager reported that a suspect had tried to pick a fight with him and would not leave the store.

Weapons, 5800 Block of KINGSTOWNE BLVD, 4/6/11. A bomb threat was made over the walkie-talkie at a business.

Larceny, 5800 Block of KINGSTOWNE BLVD, 4/7/11. A store employee of a grocery store stole a bottle of prescription pills.


Franconia/Rose Hill

Larceny, 6700 Block of METROPOLITAN CENTER DR, 4/3/11. An individual returned to her vehicle to find that a window had been smashed out and her GPS device had been stolen.

Larceny, 5700 Block of HERITAGE HILL CT, 4/3/11. An individual returned to her vehicle to find that it had been ransacked and a GPS device had been stolen from the center console.

Drugs, JAVINS DR / RIDGE VIEW DR, 4/4/11. Following a traffic stop, an individual was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Larceny, 6600 Block of FRONTIER DR, 4/4/11. An individual attempted to leave a business after concealing items in his cart.

Destruction of Private Property, 6500 Block of SUMMERTON WAY, 4/5/11. An individual reported that a house in foreclosure’s door was unsecure, dogs were living in the house, a note was left on the kitchen counter, and a door had been busted.

Larceny, 6000 Block of CHICORY PL, 4/6/11. An individual reported that his gym bag was stolen from his vehicle; individual was unsure as to whether or not he had locked his vehicle.

Larceny, 6500 Block of LOISDALE CT, 4/8/11. An individual returned to his company van to find the driver’s side door ajar and several tools missing.

 

East Springfield

Destruction of Private Property, 6800 Block of FRONT ROYAL RD, 4/3/11. An individual returned to his vehicle to find that someone had smashed his rear windshield with an object.

Drugs, 7000 Block of BROOKFIELD PLZ, 4/3/11. Following a traffic stop, an individual was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Larceny, 7400 Block of NANCEMOND ST, 4/3/11. An individual reported that a home caregiver was stealing money, food, drinks, and other miscellaneous items from his home.

Drugs, BACKLICK RD RAMP TO RT7900 EB / RT7900 NB RAMP TO I95 HOV SB, 4/5/11. Following a traffic stop, an individual was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Larceny, 7200 Block of OLD KEENE MILL RD, 4/7/11. Individuals attempted to exit a convenience store without paying for alcohol.

Robbery, 6300 Block of SPRINGFIELD PLZ, 4/8/11. An individual was approached by a suspect with appeared to be a semiautomatic pistol; the suspect stole the individual’s bag of checks/money.

 

Edsall/Bren Mar

Larceny, 7000 Block of LEEBRAD ST, 4/6/11. An individual’s work van was broken into; a power drill, snake light, and hand tools were stolen.

Larceny, 5200 Block of DALTON RD,4/6/11. An individual returned to his vehicle to find that the back license plate was missing.

Destruction of Private Property, 5400 Block of CAMROSE PL, 4/8/11. The driver’s side window of a vehicle was broken; several items scattered on the floor and seats but nothing appeared to be missing.

Auto Theft, 6400 Block of EDSALL RD, 4/9/11. Two vehicles were stolen; two sets of keys were also stolen off of a table inside a residence in order to gain entry into the vehicles.


Lorton

Larceny, 9600 Block of HAGEL CIR, 4/3/11. An individual reported that her son’s bike had been stolen from a playground. The following day, her son saw his bike in a neighbor’s yard, but it had been spray painted white; neighbor returned it without incident. Later, the bike was stolen again from his front yard.

Auto Theft, 8400 Block of TERMINAL RD, 4/5/11. An individual’s vehicle was towed and when she went to pick it up, there was much damage to the car. She discovered that the car had been towed from several blocks away from her residence, which was not where she had last parked it.

Robbery, LEWIS CHAPEL RD / LORTON RD, 4/5/11. An individual reported that a suspect had shoved her to the ground and stolen her purse, which contained cash, keys, and a Visa credit card.

Larceny, 9400 Block of LORTON MARKET ST, 4/7/11. An individual reported that her purse had been stolen from her shopping cart.

Larceny, 9200 Block of LEE MASEY DR, 4/8/11. An individual reported that his bike had been stolen from his garage.

Destruction of Private Property, 9500 Block of SALUDA CT, 4/9/11. Four juveniles threw eggs at a store owner’s vehicle.

Destruction of Private Property, CHERWEK DR / RICHMOND HWY, 4/9/11. An individual returned to his vehicle to find that mustard had been thrown on the front windshield.

Drugs, 7700 Block of GUNSTON PLZ, 4/9/11. Following consensual searches, white powder was found in the pocket of one of four individuals.
