Police Blotter: Weapon Brandished Over Springfield Mall Parking Space, "RIP Alyssa" Graffiti

Student found allegedly possessing marijuana at Edison High School

Along with the , the Franconia Police District has started issuing more detailed blotters that include some crimes that aren't included in the other report. We'll run the crimes from Kingstowne and the surrounding areas, and highlight the most notable ones at the top.

NOTABLE

-Graffiti: On March 27, police identified graffiti in black spray paint at the intersections of Graceway Drive and Telegraph Road, and Mount Air Drive and Telegraph Road, both in Newington. The graffiti read "EOK" and "RIP ALYSSA," and "RIP ALYSSA" and "FBG," respectively.

-Weapon Brandished at Springfield Mall: On April 2, an individual involved in a dispute over a parking space brandished a weapon.

-Marijuana at Edison High School: On March 29, a student at Edison High School was allegedly found in possession of marijuana at the school.

-Pain Medication, On March 27 at the 6300 block of Walker Lane, a person visited a health facility and used false identification to obtain pain medication. Police say the individual does this several times a year.

-Stolen Gas: On March 31, gas was stolen from a car parked at Rose Hill Elementary.

Kingstowne

Burglary, 7600 Block of GIFFORD CT, 3/27/11. Suspect attempted to enter a home through a window but was unable to unlock the window.

Destruction, GRACEWAY DR / TELEGRAPH RD, 3/27/11. Graffiti in black spray paint identified on a concrete retaining wall.  Graffiti read “EOK” and “RIP ALYSSA.”

Destruction, MOUNT AIR DR / TELEGRAPH RD, 3/27/11.  Graffiti in black spray paint identified on a concrete retaining wall.  Graffiti read “RIP ALYSSA,” “FBG,” and other unreadable words.

Larceny, 6400 Block of ROCKSHIRE ST, 3/27/11. A digital camera and headphones were taken from an individual’s bedroom.

Larceny, 5700 Block of KINGSTOWNE BLVD, 3/27/11. An individual’s purse was stolen from a shopping cart at a store.

Forgery, 5900 Block of KINGSTOWNE TOWNE CTR, 3/29/11.  A counterfeit bill was used at the bar of a restaurant.

Auto Theft, 6000 Block of STODDARD CT, 3/30/11.  An individual’s vehicle was stolen from his parking spot.

Tax Violation, 6300 Block of HILLARY CT, 3/31/11. Two individuals were selling water treatment systems without a solicitor’s license.

Destruction of Private Property, 6200 Block of TALIAFERRO WAY, 4/2/11. An individual reported that their boyfriend had broken the rear, driver’s side window of her vehicle.

Disorderly, 7500 Block of MANIGOLD CT, 4/2/11.  Following the report of a domestic dispute in which threats were made, the officer realized that the offender was the subject of an outstanding warrant.

Fraud, BEULAH ST / FLAT ROCK RD, 4/2/11. Following a traffic stop, an individual provided false identification.

 

Franconia and Rose Hill

Drugs, 6300 Block of WALKER LN, 3/27/11. Individual visits a health facility several times per year to obtain pain medication fraudulently, using false identification.

Destruction of Private Property, 6300 Block of RACETEC PL, 3/28/11. The driver’s side window of a vehicle was smashed; nothing appeared to be stolen.

Drugs, 6400 Block of FRANCONIA CT, 3/28/11. Following a report of a missing juvenile, officer located the juvenile who had been drinking and was in possession of marijuana.

Drugs, 6500 Block of FRANCONIA RD, 3/29/11. A student was found to be in possession of marijuana on school grounds.

Larceny, 6700 Block of FRONTIER DR, 3/29/11. An individual stole several CDs from a store and walked out.

Burglary, 5800 Block of PIEDMONT DR, 3/30/11.  An individual returned home to find that her home had been broken into.  Items missing included two laptops and some jewelry.

Larceny, 6600 Block of FRONTIER DR, 3/30/11. An individual stole two black iPhone 4s off the shelf of a store and ran out.

Larceny, 5700 Block of SOUTH VAN DORN ST, 3/30/11. A student’s cell phone was stolen from his hotel room when he was visiting the area on a chaperoned school trip.

Larceny, 6300 Block of ROSE HILL DR, 3/31/11. Gas was stolen from a car in the parking lot of a school.

Auto Theft, 6000 Block of ARCHSTONE WAY, 4/1/11. Individual reported his  motorcycle stolen.

Burglary, 6100 Block of FRANCONIA RD, 4/1/11. A business was broken into after someone threw a brick through the glass window.

Destruction of Private Property, 5900 Block of KIMBERLY ANNE WAY, 4/1/11.  Individual’s vehicle was scratched approximately 14 times by an unknown object.

Larceny, 6300 Block of COTTONWOOD DR, 4/1/11.  An individual reported that his work van had been broken into via the rear door.  One saw and two drills were stolen.

Destruction of Private Property, 6500 Block of SPRINGFIELD MALL, 4/2/11.  The passenger-side window of a vehicle was smashed; nothing appeared to be missing.

Destruction of Public Property, 6500 Block of FRANCONIA RD, 4/2/11. Window of an exit door at school had been shattered from the outside. 

Larceny, 6800 Block of LOIS DR, 4/2/11. Side lock on an individual’s work van was damaged.  Items were taken from the vehicle.

Weapons, 6500 Block of SPRINGFIELD MALL, 4/2/11.  An individual brandished a weapon following a dispute over a parking space.

 

East Springfield

Destruction of Private Property, 6800 Block of BLAND ST, 3/28/11. An individual had tampered with the lock on the door of a business.

Fraud, 6900 Block of SPRINGFIELD BLVD, 3/31/11. Counterfeit checks had been used, one was cashed successfully.

Larceny, 6800 Block of VERSAR CTR, 3/31/11.  Rear license plate of vehicle was stolen.

 

Bren Mar and Edsall

Larceny, 7400 Block of JERVIS ST, 3/27/11. Individual returned to vehicle to find cash and numerous items of jewelry stolen.

Larceny, 5800 Block of HEMING AVE, 3/27/11.  Following a house party, a GPS, laptop, and camcorder were missing from the host’s room.

Auto Theft, 7000 Block of BRADDOCK MEWS PL, 3/29/11.  An individual’s vehicle was stolen from his townhome parking lot.

Larceny, 6900 Block of BRADDOCK RD, 3/29/11. Individual exited a grocery store with a bag of items.

Drugs, 5500 Block of VINCENT GATE TER, 4/1/11. Individual was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Fraud, 6600 Block of EDSALL RD, 4/1/11.  Following a traffic stop, individual provided a fake name to officer.

Destruction of Private Property, 6200 Block of EDSALL RD, 4/2/11.  An individual wrote on the interior of the men’s bathroom stalls with a marker.

Destruction of Private Property, 5600 Block of BLOOMFIELD DR, 4/2/11. Individual returned to vehicle to find driver’s side window smashed; rock laying in front seat of vehicle.

 

Lorton

Larceny, 9400 Block of GUNSTON COVE RD, 3/28/11. Individual reported that suspects had broken into two of his sheds and stolen numerous tools.

Larceny, 7700 Block of PORTERS HILL LN, 3/30/11. After being dropped off by a taxi cab, individual failed to pay fee.

Larceny, 13000 Block of HOLLY PL, 4/2/11.  Individual returned to vehicle to find that it had been egged and as a result, vehicle’s paint was damaged.  The mailbox outside of the home was also missing.

Robbery, 7700 Block of GUNSTON PLZ, 4/2/11. An individual was robbed by a suspect who stole his iPhone.
