Police Launch Online Financial Crime Reporting Website

Are you the victim of identity theft or some form of financial crime?

The Fairfax County Police Department today unveiled the Financial Crimes Information and Reporting System for County residents and employees. County detectives have investigated more than 2,500 cases of i.d. theft since 2009.

“Victims are already understandably upset and angry when they’ve lost money," said Lieutenant Bob Blakely, a former Fairfax County Financial Crimes Unit supervisor. "They don’t know where to turn. We think this new system will help.”

The FICOR site provides residents with financial crime prevention and protection methods. But in order to see resolution to a complaint, you may be asked to meet with detectives more than once and appear in court.

"If you do not wish to fully cooperate, a report will be filed, but detectives will not investigate your case further," the site says.
