Police Planning Holiday DWI Patrols

FCPD says Virginia State Police will also participate

Thinking of having one more glass of eggnog before heading home this Christmas? You might want to think again, because Fairfax County police in the Franconia District are planning extra patrols aimed at holiday drunk drivers.

Fairfax County police officers will be running patrols for drunk drivers starting around Thanksgiving, according to Lieutenant Mark Hopson.

Hopson said the county will also have more magistrates working nights during the holidays, making it easier to process drunk driving suspects.

The Virginia State Police will also be monitoring Franconia and the nearby Mixing Bowl, according to Hopson.

"The state police are doing a massive push in this area," Hopson said.
