Police: Red Truck Not Involved in Crime

Some children involved retracted their statements.

Police say the driver of a red truck that had been reported for suspicious activity is harmless, after some of the children involved in the case retracted their statements. 

The red truck driver  in early February as approaching a child in Bush Hill. Following the incident, neighbors organized an information campaign and provided tips to Fairfax County police officials about suspicious cars. One resident even in an effort to help get more information.

After police interviewed the truck's owner, however, they say he had a valid reason for being in the neighborhood in the early morning.

"He is not believed to have had any criminal intent or involvement in any criminal activity," according to a press release from the police department.
