Fairfax County police have released the name of the woman killed in in Kingstowne.
Diana Merediz, a 71-year-old resident of the 3000 block of Cunningham Drive in Mount Vernon, was in the front passenger seat of a Toyota Camry that was struck in the accident, which occurred around 1:15 p.m. Sunday.
According to police, a 25-year-old driver traveling northbound in a Ford Mustang on Kingstowne Boulevard collided with the Camry as it tried to make a left turn from Kingstowne Boulevard onto Kingstowne Village Parkway. The Camry, driven by a 77-year-old man, was struck on the passenger side by the Mustang.

The Camry spun out of the intersection and onto the curb, striking a traffic light box.

Merediz died at the scene. The 77-year-old driver was taken by helicopter to Inova Fairfax with life-threatening injuries, while the 25-year-old was taken a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
