Police Report: Arson, Embezzlement at Springfield Mall

The following arrest information was supplied by the Franconia District Station. It does not indicate a conviction.

In addition to the , the  has started issuing more detailed blotters that feature some crimes that aren't included in the other weekly incident summary. We'll run the crimes from the greater Rose Hill area and highlight the most notable ones at the top.

- Arson:  On May 15, an individual reported that he had noticed smoke coming from a stairwell at a building on the 6300 block of Walker Lane and seen three suspects leaving the stairwell. 

- Embezzlement:  On May 20, a store manager caught a cashier voiding transactions and giving away merchandise for free on several occasions at a business on the 6600 block of the Springfield Mall.

- Drugs:  On May 20, following a traffic stop at the intersection of Franconia Road and Grovedale Drive, an individual was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Larceny:  On May 15, an individual reported that his van had been broken into on the 5900 block of Craft Road and tools had been stolen, including a sanding machine and commercial staplers. 

Larceny:  On May 15, an individual exited a store on the 6600 block of Springfield Mall without paying for merchandise. 

Larceny:  On May 15, an individual reported that his landscaping equipment had been stolen from his work van on the 5500 block of Janelle Street. 

Larceny:  On May 15, an individual reported that her laptop had been stolen from her vehicle on the 6300 block of Deer Ridge Trail Court.

Larceny:  On May 16, an individual reported that tires were stolen from her husband’s vehicle on the 4700 block of Apple Tree Drive and cash was taken from inside the vehicle. 

Larceny:  On May 16, an individual on the 5900 block of Westridge Court reported that her boyfriend had taken her cell phone without permission and refused to return it. 

Larceny:  On May 16, an individual returned to his vehicle on the 5900 block of Highdale Circle to find all four tires and rims had been stolen; the car was left on blocks.

Auto Theft:  On May 17, an individual reported that his vehicle had been stolen from the street in front of his home on the 5600 block of Burgundy Place. 

Auto Theft:  On May 17, an individual reported that his unlocked vehicle had been stolen from the 6200 block of Old Valley Court. 

Destruction of Private Property:  On May 17, an individual returned to his vehicle on the 5500 block of Janelle Street to find that it had been broken into; items were taken. 

Destruction of Private Property:  On May 17, an individual reported that the front gate of their home on the 3700 block of Elmwood Towne Way had been forced open, which damaged the control arm to the gate.  

Larceny:  On May 17, several individuals left a store on the 6000 block of Rose Hill Drive without paying for merchandise.

Larceny:  On May 17, an individual’s four tires and rims were stolen from his vehicle on the 3200 block of Burgundy Road.

Larceny:  On May 18, an individual attempted to exit a store on the 6600 block of Springfield Mall without paying for merchandise. 

Larceny:  On May 19, an individual attempted to exit a store on the 6600 block of Springfield Mall without paying for merchandise. 

Larceny:  On May 20, an individual accidentally left her cell phone at a store register on the 6500 block of Springfield Mall; when she returned, it was gone. 

Auto Theft: On May 21, an individual reported that her vehicle had been stolen on the 5900 block of Founders Hill Drive.
