Police Report: Christmas Eve Bank Robbery

Attempted robbery in Kingstowne, two Toyotas stolen.

Every week, the Franconia District Station releases a report of the major incidents that occur in the district, which includes the greater Rose Hill area, from the previous week. Here are the incidents that occurred from Dec. 15 to Dec. 28. Keep in mind that these are reported incidents. A crime did not necessarily occur.

Attempted Robbery

A man attempted to rob a 39-year-old woman of her purse in the 5800 block of Kingstowne Boulevard around 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20. The suspect was described as white, between 30 and 45 years old, with a long beard, shoulder-length hair and wearing a coffee-colored jacket. The victim was not injured.

A man entered the BB&T Bank at 4401 Backlick Road, implied a weapon and demanded money from a teller around 11:13 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured. The suspect was described as black, about 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and between 170 and 180 pounds. He was wearing a black, collared jacket, a gray scarf, blue jeans, dark-colored sunglasses and a black hat. Vehicle Theft

A Toyota Celica was reported missing from the 6000 block of Archstone Way.

A 2008 Toyota Corolla was reported stolen from the 7600 block of Vine Street.

Larcenies

A scooter was stolen from the 6200 block of Bernard Ave.

A package was stolen from a residence on the 6100 block of Franconia Road. 

A dryer and shelves were stolen from a residence on the 6100 block of Franconia Road.

A wallet was stolen from a business on the 6100 block of Franconia Road.

An iPod was stolen from a school on the 6300 block of Rose Hill Drive.

Gift cards were stolen from a residence on the 6000 block of Sumner Road.

Tools were stolen from a vehicle on the 3400 block of Campbell Drive.

A laptop computer bag was stolen from a business on the 5500 block of Franconia Road.

A jacket was stolen from a school on the 6500 block of Franconia Road.

A coin collection was stolen from a residence on the 5000 block of Knickerbocker Drive.

Rings were stolen from a residence on the 3800 block of Locust Lane.
