Police Report: Fatal Crash, Robbery in Springfield

Wood-cutting machine stolen, projectors stolen from school.

Every week, the  releases a report of the major incidents that occur in the district, which includes the greater Rose Hill area, from the previous week. Here are the incidents that occurred from Dec. 8 to Dec. 14. Keep in mind that these are reported incidents. A crime did not necessarily occur.

Fatal Crash

A Newington-area woman was involved in a single vehicle fatal crash on Saturday. On Dec. 10 around 2:30 p.m., Casey Noriega, 29, was driving southbound on Beulah Street approaching the intersection of Windsor Avenue, when for unknown reasons . Noriega was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Neither speed nor alcohol appears to be contributing factors of the crash. .

Robbery

A man robbed a 42-year-old man in the 6600 block of Bowie Drive around 11:25 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11. The suspect was described as possibly Hispanic, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a long-sleeved top. He fled in a light-colored vehicle. The victim was not injured.

Larcenies

A wallet was stolen from a vehicle on the 6400 block of Edsall Road. 

A bicycle was stolen from a school on the 5800 block of Franconia Road.

Projectors were stolen from a school on the 6500 block of Franconia Road.

A wood cutting machine was stolen from a vehicle on the 4300 block of Tipton Lane.
