Police Report: Soliciting, Robbery on Edsall Road

Four vehicles in the area were reported stolen.

Every week, the Franconia District Police Station releases a report of the major incidents that occur in the district, which includes the greater Rose Hill area, from the previous week. Here are the incidents that occurred from July 28 to August 10.

Keep in mind that these are reported incidents. A crime did not necessarily occur.

Soliciting Without a License/Larceny/Robbery/Arrest

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy for soliciting without a license outside the Best Buy store located at 6555 Frontier Drive around 4:50 p.m. on Friday, July 29. The suspect was taken to the juvenile detention center and charged with soliciting without a license. He was additionally charged with two counts of robbery and three counts of grand larceny for three previous, unrelated events.

Robbery

A 48-year-old man was robbed in the area of Edsall Road and Indian Run Parkway around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3. A dark-colored, four-door sedan pulled up to the victim; one suspect exited, displayed a handgun and demanded money, then fled in the vehicle. He was described as white, possibly Hispanic, about 40 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with medium-length hair. He was wearing a blue T-shirt, blue shirt and sneakers. The victim was not injured.

Police arrested a man for allegedly firing a gun inside a home in the 7000 block of Clifton Knoll Court around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 4. Greg W. Smith, 44, of 7005 Clifton Knoll Court in Alexandria, was charged with discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling and possession of marijuana. No one was injured.

Vehicle Thefts

A Dodge was reported stolen from the intersection of Bren Mar Drive and Bismach Drive.

A 1996 Nissan Maxima was reported stolen from the 5600 block of Bismach Drive.

A 2007 Jaguar was reported stolen from the 6500 block of Kelsey Point Circle.

A U-Haul truck was reported stolen from the 5400 block of Vine Street.

Larcenies

An iPod was stolen from a vehicle on the 5900 block of Kingstowne Towne Center.

A GPS, video game system and television were stolen from a residence on the 6100 block of Essex House Square.

A videogame system and laptop computer were stolen from a residence on the 6400 block of Higham Drive.

A backpack and laptop computer were stolen from a vehicle on the 6000 block of Kathmoor Drive.

Jeans were stolen from a business on the 5700 block of Kingstowne Boulevard. 

A lisence plate was stolen from a vehicle on the 5800 block of Kingstowne Boulevard. 

Jewelry was stolen from a residence on the 5700 block of Ridge View Drive.
