Police: Woman Inappropriately Touched on Hanover Avenue

The latest weekly activity report provided by the Fairfax County Police Department on Aug. 2. Mentioned arrests do not indicate convictions.

The following are incidents reported by the Fairfax County Police in their weekly report, released Friday.

Sex Offense (red on map), 10:45 a.m., July 25, 6200 block of Hanover Avenue, A 25-year-old woman was walking when a man approached and inappropriately touched her. He fled and she was not injured. FCPD Public Information Office said they don't believe the incident is related to the serial groper case.

In separate and unrelated incidents:

Business Checks, July 28, Officers from the Franconia Station with members of the Department of Code Compliance, County Licensing, and the Fire Marshal’s Office inspected several massage businesses. No ABC violations were cited. Sixteen fire code and six zoning violations were cited. Additionally, 72 property maintenance and 15 unpermitted violations were cited.

Assault (green on map), 3:15 p.m., July 29, 6200 block of Alforth Avenue, A 16-year-old was walking with her mother when an unknown man grabbed her. The women screamed and the man fled. The girl was not injured.

Burglary (purple on map), 11 a.m., July 29, 5800 block of Kingstowne Center, An employee reported someone entered the business and stole cash. Forced entry was made through the front door.

Assaults in Franconia Area. On July 30, there were two unrelated assaults. The first incident took place in the area of Briarleigh Way and Crestleigh Way at approximately 10:14 a.m. A 30-year-old woman was walking when a man appeared and inappropriately touched her and then fled. She was not injured.The suspect was described as white or Hispanic, in his late 20s. He was approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and 170 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt and light colored pants.

The second event occurred near Backlick Road and Highland Street at approximately 1:30 p.m. A 23-year-old woman was grabbed from behind and inappropriately touched. The man fled. She was not injured.

The suspect was described as Hispanic, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and skinny. He was wearing a black, short sleeve shirt and black jean shorts.

Residents are reminded to immediately call the Police if they are the victim of a crime.
