Springfield Priest Arrested, Charged With Sexual Assault of Adult Male

Father Luis Fernando Franco Henao no longer works at St. Bernadette Parish in Springfield, and turned himself in on Dec. 19.

A priest from a Springfield Catholic Church and School turned himself in to police after being accused of sexually abusing a 29-year-old male. Father Luis Fernando Franco Henao was charged with sexual battery of an adult male, after the victim reported that he was sexually assaulted at St. Bernadette Parish in February.

The victim reported the incident to Fairfax County Police on Nov. 30 - nine months after the fact. The victim alleges that the 40-year-old Franco assaulted him "while seeking support and guidance from the suspect when the suspect allegedly touched him inappropriately," according to Fairfax County Police.

Henao was charged with sexual battery, "and that implies that he was touched in a place where you're not supposed to be touched, and on a man there are only two places that will be," said Fairfax County Police spokesman Eddy Azcarate.

Franco moved to St. Bernadette's in 2010 from a church in Columbia, and is no longer an employee of the St. Bernadette Parish or elementary school, according to ABC7.

Hey Heather where do you live? You must be in your own lil' world! Give me your address and you can show me what you think sexual assault is!

Heather: I really could care less if you believe me or not. I am telling the truth and there were 5 other female students who were also molested at the same time by the same teacher who can verify my story. The teachers name was Gary Nuhn and he was convicted a few years later of molesting a female student at another school. SHAME SHAME SHAME on you! Your type of person is the reason why VICTIMS of sexual abuse are scared to come forward and report the abuse. I can only wish that you could experience sexual abuse first hand as just punishment for being a jerk. I would love the opportunity to meet you face to face and wipe that smug look off your disgusting self rightous face myself. I can only hope that Jesus thinks your an ass.

I smell a set up. I've personally spent time with Luis in social settings outside his clerical role and he was nothing but genuine, honest and truly devoted to the priesthood!

Heather, In most cases of molestation, it is hard for and eight year old to tell anyone. And if the child does tell someone and not believed or heard, they will not try again. It seems that you don't know what you are talking about when it comes to being molested. Perhaps before you open your mouth to something you don't know about you should keep it shut and don't say anything at all or find out what victims have experienced. Ignorance is not bliss when the information is out there for you to find out.
