When police arrived at the scene Sunday morning, they found Ives outside in the 5400 block of Broadmoor Street, near Hayfield Elementary School and Hayfield Secondary School. Ives was dead at the scene, as a result of trauma to the upper body. He lived near the area, police said.

Police say that Garces and Ives knew each other. Garces does not have a lot of ties to the community, police said.

The medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, according to police.
