The candidates for Virginia governor begin their debate at 7 p.m.

Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Ken Cuccinelli will face off in a debate at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Capital One Bank complex in McLean.

The two have been at each other's throats in a tight race.

Libertarian Robert Sarvis was not invited to the debate, but Patch is giving him the opportunity to weigh in through the Cover it Live feature. We'll also be collecting tweets and other tidbits from tonight's event.

"They didn't even give us criteria or anything," said Sarvis' strategist, John Vaught LaBeaume. "I guess they had a bad experience with a third-party candidate who wasn't ready for the prime-time… They didn't want any third-party candidates."

Sarvis will appear on the November ballot alongside McAuliffe and Cuccinelli.

Tonight's debate will be moderated by NBC's Chuck Todd.
