Lee District's Lord and Lady Fairfax Crowned

Lee District residents Jane Hilder and Sam McCutchen recognized in ceremony.

Twenty of Fairfax County's best volunteers were recognized by the Board of Supervisors for their outstanding contributions to the community last night at the Fairfax County Government Center.

The Celebrate Fairfax! Salute began in 1984 as a way to recognize exceptional citizens of Fairfax County. Each year, two citizens from each magisterial district are selected by the Board of Supervisors and are named Lord and Lady Fairfax. These citizens are recognized for going above and beyond the call of service to their community.

"This year's theme is: 'The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in service of others,'" said Master of Ceremonies Pete Murphy in his introductory remarks. "Tonight, we honor a small group of dedicated citizens who lose themselves in the service of others."
