Local Post Offices Prepare for Tax Filing Deadline

Several U.S. Postal Service offices in the Northern Virginia area are prepared for additional volume for the April 15 federal tax filing deadline coming up on Monday.

If you need an extra hour or two to mail your tax return, you can find seven area branches outside of Kingstowne that will be open later than 5 p.m. that day, according to a recent news release.

(Post offices in Kingstowne will have regular hours of operation on April 15.)

The regional branches that will be open later on Monday include:

• Merrifield Post Office, 8409 Lee Highway - open until 8 p.m.
• Alexandria Post Office, 1100 Wythe Street - open until 6 p.m.
• Fairfax Chantilly Post Office, 4410 Brookfield Corporate Drive - open until 6 p.m.
• Herndon Post Office, 590 Groove Street - open until 6 p.m.
• Sterling Potomac Falls Post Office, 46164 Westlake Drive - open until 6 p.m.
• Prince William Branch Post Office, 3360 Post Office Road - open until 6 p.m.
• Winchester Post Office, 340 N Pleasant Valley Road - open until 6 p.m.
