Marshall Bashes Feds 'Flying Gay Pride Flag'

Del. Robert Marshall is bashing the gay community again.

This time, the Republican lawmaker who represents the Manassas area has sent a letter to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke protesting that the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond has a rainbow flag still flapping in the wind after Gay Pride Month.

Possibly more than a thousand people have called the Richmond institution this week, according to an employee who asked that her name not be used in the article. Most of the callers have been angry, she said. Callers upset about the flag were being transferred to a different line to voice their concerns, possibly on an answering machine.

“We have been flooded with calls,” she said.

Marshall questions if the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond violated its policies by continuing to fly the rainbow flag, and if the 12 regional banks should be using Fed money “to take such public advocacy positions?”
 
"I am interested to find out if Chairman Bernanke agrees that the flying of the rainbow flag in honor of Gay Pride Month may violate the Federal Reserve's policy against participating in political activities at the bank," said Marshall.  "Particularly since it appears that the bank administration would be unwilling to allow a request by an employee to fly a flag in support of a more conservative cause."

Marshall has a history of attacking the gay community.
